Are You Considering Plastic Surgery ?

What is the difference between plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery? The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) explains that plastic or reconstructive surgery is performed on abnormal structures of the body, normally caused by developmental problems, trauma, birth defects, injuries, infections or tumors. Aesthetic or cosmetic surgery is done to reshape or restore normal body structures to improve self-esteem and appearance.

You may be surprised to learn that many men are now opting for this type of elective surgery. One of the more popular procedures for men is neck liposuction, which removes areas of fat around the neck and sculpts the area for an improved look.

More often than not, this is combined with a face lift or other type of facial operation, such as chin liposuction. When asked why they want the operation in the first place, many state it is for work related reasons and view it as an investment in themselves.

Ultrasonic liposuction is the number one cosmetic/plastic surgical procedure being performed. The method behind the ultrasonic procedure is that the fat is “shaken or loosened” and this enables it to be sucked out of the body more efficiently.

Many people feel that we live in a beauty and youth fixated culture and that this type of procedure is almost necessary in order to succeed in both work and relationships. Is plastic surgery a viable option or alternative for you? Each of us has a self-image, a perception of how we believe we look to others.

It has been shown that people who are happy with their self-image are more likely to be self-confident, as well as more successful in both work and social situations. Those who are not satisfied tend to be self-conscious, inhibited and less adept at holding their own in social situations.

With any specialized or general operation you will need time to recover after surgery, and the time varies from person to person as well as according to the procedure. You will also need to allow time for both physical and emotional issues. Many physicians say that the emotional recovery is usually something the patient has not counted on and as such, they try to make sure to discuss this issue before all surgeries.

Naturally, there are numerous reasons why someone may elect to have plastic surgery. There are things to consider and keep in mind before having a procedure. Surgeons can only work with what basics are there, meaning that they cannot mold someone’s appearance as if they were made of clay.

There are certain considerations, such as a persons overall health, their age and skin texture. Physicians tell us another important consideration is the person’s state of mind prior to the operation. If they assume this is going to make them beautiful and fix all of their problems, then they are very likely not a good candidate for this type of procedure.

A History Of Vauxhall Motors, From Pumps To MPVs

Vauxhall can trace its history back one hundred and fifty years when founder Alex Wilson, opened a factory in the district of Vauxhall, that originally built pumps and engines. It wasn’t until 1903 that the first Vauxhall car was built and the first dealerships sprouted up to sell this car.

In 1925 Vauxhall Motors, as the company was now known was bought out by the American General Motors for the princely sum of two and a half million dollars. This strong American influence led to design of Vauxhall cars, and European cars more generally being akin to their American counterparts. The war years were fruitful for the company as they adapted their machinery to build the Churchill Tank rather than the cars that fill the forecourts of today’s dealerships.

It was not until the seventies and eighties that the company experienced resurgence in fortunes thanks to popular late sixties models such as the Viva and Victor. The Viva continued to fly out of the dealerships during the seventies but the Victor faced stiff market competition from competitors such as the Ford Cortina. Despite the popularity of the Viva, Vauxhall still found themselves falling behind its two main competitors Ford and British Leyland in terms of sales and the money dealerships were making.

The mid-seventies however brought about a revival of fortunes with two new dynamic models rolling onto the forecourts of dealerships. The Vauxhall Chevette was the first of a new generation of small three door hatchbacks and sold extremely well, while the Cavalier was a saloon that was beginning to claw back the huge market share possessed by the Cortina. Thankfully by the end of the decade the gap between Ford and Vauxhall was beginning to be closed.

The end of the decade and the commencement of the eighties once again brought a new range of models to the forecourts of dealerships. The Astra was developed as a small family hatchback that would replace the Viva and become the backbone of every new range since. The Vauxhall Nova replaced the Chevette as part of the new ’super-mini’ generation being manufactured by many companies. The most important car for Vauxhall during the eighties was the Mk2 Cavalier that was released as a large family car rather than a saloon. Its sleek design and new drive format made it a popular alternative to the Ford Sierra.

The biggest success for the company during this decade however was most probably the Carlton. As the pinnacle of the Vauxhall range that took pride of place in dealerships and showrooms across the land it received the accolade of European Car of the Year in 1986; its vast use of technology and comfortable ride made it a brilliant and affordable executive saloon. The eighties also saw Vauxhalls shake off the image of being rust prone that had blighted their sales up until this point.

The nineties really saw Vauxhall Motors thrive with a host of new and redesigned models present in dealerships. The Astra was coming into its own and offering a startling alternative to its main competitor the Ford Escort, while the Nova was being scrapped for the radically designed Corsa that would corner a large part of the small car market. The mid nineties saw a range of new models such as the Vectra, a large family car taking over the role of the Cavalier; and the Zafira, a departure from past models to incorporate an MPV into the range.

Today sees Vauxhall stronger than ever with a great deal of choice in contemporary dealerships. The Corsa has been re-launched twice since its inception and still proves to be popular among young drivers and small families. The Astra is still around and is currently in its fifth generation with a radical new design that has had a mixed reception from the motoring public.

The Vectra is still popular although a successor is believed to be just around the corner. The strongest suit is probably the Meriva and Zafira MPVs, the Zafira being one of the ten best selling cars in the UK. Vauxhall have come along way from their beginnings manufacturing marine pumps, today they are one of the most widely used car brands in Britain.

How The New Rule Changes Are Affecting Formula One

The world of Formula 1 is still trying to acclimatise to the loss of the traction control systems. While sponsors and merchandise producers are happy with the prospect of more exciting races and an increase in spin offs and accidents, drivers and teams are slightly more apprehensive. The next race in Bahrain will be the ultimate test of the new regulations as historically this GP is one of the most heavily TC reliant in the Formula 1 calendar.

The Bahrain GP will give sponsors and merchandise producers the chance to promote a race that will offer high octane excitement and entertainment. Due to the layout of this Formula 1 circuit, containing many tight corners and short straights, the drivers will be put under added pressure to perform and bring the cars home. Whether they can do this will either please sponsors and merchandise companies or make them question their dealings.

Tyre supplier Bridgestone has raised concerns over the TC regulations. It stated that rather than aid the drivers at all times, the majority of the time it purely kept the tyre temperatures to a decent level for handling. As of yet however we have not seen a race in wet conditions. This will be a true test of all the drivers as a Formula 1 car is next to impossible to control once the heavens open. Sponsors and merchandise producers will be keenly watching the first wet race to see which drivers have the skill level to control their cars.

The other major change to the Formula 1 rule this year was that engine breaking systems would also be removed from the cars. These systems had helped with the slowing of the cars and as a result of their removal, a number of lock ups and drivers overshooting corners has been evident in the preliminary races of the season. Sponsors and merchandise suppliers will be hoping that as the best drivers in the world, they will be able to cope with these changes and still provide entertaining races and exciting racing moments.

These two changes have already had a huge impact and the season is still in its infancy. Drivers have to take far more care of their tyres in order to finish races and remain competitive. Merchandise companies and sponsors will not be thrilled with this development as it may mean that races will become less exciting as every driver on the circuit is purely trying to maintain his position and the performance of his tyres. Hopefully this will not be the case; from the first two races it is clear that some drivers will still push their cars to the limit no matter what.

Another rule change that has come to light since the Malaysian GP is that Formula 1 authorities have decided to yet again change the rules for qualifying. Sponsors, merchandise suppliers and fans alike will be dreading yet another change but seemingly this one is at least logical. Following the chaotic situation in the last GP when drivers who were returning to the pit extremely slow to save fuel for the race held up other drivers bosses have made a change. The change sees a maximum lap time that cars will be able to put in when returning to the pits, it is hoped this will make qualifying safer for those on flying laps.

With rule changes happening nearly every week in Formula 1 it is unsurprising that so many fans seem somewhat lost when it comes to race weekends. As a motor sport fan, it is of course preferable to ensure the safety of drivers, but the constant rule changing can be annoying. As long as the excitement of races is increased and the overtaking manoeuvres and pit lane dramas continue, the vast majority will stay loyal to the sport.

Motor sport expert Thomas Pretty looks into the new F1 rule changes and how this is affecting the opinions of Formula 1 merchandise companies and sponsors.

Housing Reports Can Confuse Consumers

Consumers can become easily confused and misinterpret housing reports. This may cause them to take action that could harm rather than help them when buying or selling a home.

The timing of reports also can be a problem. If you notice most housing reports are released three to four weeks after the fact, which may not reflect current market conditions. Like stock brokers trading stocks, timing is everything.

Relying upon dated information is like trying to decide what to wear today based upon a month old weather report.

Here is an example of how consumers can easily become confused. On Monday the tenth of March the Chicago Tribune published a front page story in their business section reporting Springfield as the best housing market in the Midwest. I had the honor to be interviewed for that story along with fellow RE/MAX agent Betty Shuster.

There is some clarification required about the story. The Tribune reported Springfield home prices were up 14.4% in 2007 from 2006, thus laying the claim to the fourth best appreciating city in the U.S. and the best housing market in the Midwest.

Here’s what leads to confusion. The Tribune received those numbers from the National Association of Realtors (NAR). The methodology used by NAR is different from that used by the Capital Area Association of Realtors (CAAR). The criteria for NAR includes multiple associations of Realtors. Their definition of Springfield includes all of Menard, Sangamon, and Macoupin counties. NAR only counts stand alone single family homes.

CAAR includes condos, single family attached homes and the service area covers all of Menard, and Sangamon counties, and parts of Morgan, Christian, and Macoupin counties. So clarification point number one is the type of property, and the geographical areas are different between CAAR and NAR for reporting purposes.

An extremely significant difference, the numbers from NAR were fourth quarter comparisons, not the entire years of 2006, and 2007.

By using different property types, and geographical areas, combined with the fact that the comparison was quarterly not annual, added up to a lot of confusion.

Truth is Springfield’s median sale price did increase from $99,000 in 2006 to $104,500 in 2007, an increase of 5.5%, something 90% of the housing markets in the country wish they could report.

Price is one of the three most important ingredients to successfully selling a home. Please don’t over/under price your home based upon dated housing reports. Contact a reputable professional for the current, and accurate information about your housing market. Real estate is local.

Many companies provide a minimum of 10% for multiple vehicles and will usually be significantly larger, but often the agents forget to deliver this information on to you.

The statistics you feed into the quote page has to be accurate. In fact, it’s critical because that’s what’s used to establish what your premiums will be. Because if you cook up the data you may receive a lower rate. However, when the agent verifies the info your policy will be terminated, as well as, if you crash, you could find out to your dismay that your policy was voided.

There are multiple ways that you can reduce the amount of your coverage without compromising your liability. Auto insurance comparison online is one of the most relaxing ways to shop for it.

For instance, taking public transportation to and from your place of employment, or riding with a co-worker might lower your insurance coverage prices by as much as 49%. It pays to shop around.

You might be shocked to learn that the majority of drivers are spending too much for their vehicle insurance because they don’t take in that there are sizeable differences in policy pricing, and drivers don’t shop around. The experts all admit that the best way to save on your car coverage is to shop for and then buy your car insurance online.

When you are doing a car insurance comparison online it’s important that you compare pears to pears. It doesn’t do you any good if one quote is exceptionally low but their policy is poor in comparison to another company. In fact, before you finalize the deal or pay any money it is imperative to have the opportunity to read thoroughly the policy and all the minute details. If you follow these procedures you’ll get the best auto insurance at the best price.

What Is The Purpose Of The Computer’s Memory Module ?

Your computer is a delicate device that is very complex. Most people never truly understand how the machine works and what it is capable of doing. It handles so much information and at such a lightening fast rate.

You can make it faster though. It can be your own version of the Bionic Woman. With an upgraded memory module, your desktop memory can be bigger, faster and stronger. You will be amazed at the difference.

When it comes to learning about a memory module you may need some background information on the components and acronyms that are frequently used. Take for example the DIMM and the SIMM. One is a duel and the other is a single. But do you know how they work?

The Central Processing Unit accesses the information stored on the DIMM or SIMM. The faster the CPU can access the information, or if it is more readily available, the faster your unit will run.

The DIMM is used for a RAM, or a Random Access Memory upgrade. Desktop computers and notebooks need this RAM and is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to increase your storage. But you will need to know a few things before you can do the upgrade. First, a SIMM uses a 32 bit data path, whereas a DIMM uses a 64 bit data path. Initially, the DIMM is still the faster unit to have running.

If you are looking to replace the DIMM, then you need to know what you are currently using. You will have to add up your storage capacity by counting groups of chips. Chips are measured in bits so you will have to do a little math.

The convert bits into bytes, the formula is the number of bits divided by 8 bytes. The resulting number is the amount of mega bytes that you are currently using.

PC memory upgrades are pretty simple. You simply replace the memory module with the faster processing speed or you can stack the chips and also stack the mother boards. This allows you to utilize one slot and still build up more memory for your computer to use.

You can purchase these chips at a discount computer hardware store and some will even have service departments where you can have a staff member upgrade your computer for a small fee. This may save you time and a hassle, especially if you are not very computer savvy.

Enrich your knowledge further about the memory module from Mike Selvon portal. We appreciate your feedback at our discount computer memory blog where a free gift awaits you.

Make Your Oak Furniture Even More Beautiful

If you’re about to spend hundreds or thousands of pounds on a piece of oak furniture, read on. These quick tips could add years and elegance to your purchase and save you a bundle in the long run.

Oak is one of the most beautiful woods in the world; sturdy, durable and aged with a character of its own. When you buy a piece of oak furniture, it’s a purchase that should give you decades of pleasure and use. Over the years, the colour of the oak will mellow and take unique look of its own based on how you care for it.

Oak is a hard wood and is more susceptible than most woods to stains. Read on to see how you can minimise the effect of stains and get the look you want.
Caring for oak furniture.

There are different methods you need to use depending on where your oak furniture is at. If it’s outside, you must treat it differently than if it’s inside, but we’ll come back to that.

There are 3 steps to caring for your indoor oak pieces.
1. Original conditioning to get the look you want with a new piece of wood.
2. Cleaning properly.
3. Ongoing conditioning to maintain the look you want.

If you buy a new piece of oak furniture, you want to condition it for several reasons.
1. To help to protect it against stains
2. To get the look you want.
3. To enhance the longevity of the wood against infestation.

Depending on the type of oak furniture you have, you can either stain it, wax it or both. Staining is preferred for the tops of tables and sideboards to help protect it. You can do that with something like Ronseals English Oak hardwood furniture stain.

For the legs of coffee tables and other areas of oak furniture, you can simply wax them with a high quality beeswax. Once you’ve waxed them, allow them about half an hour to dry off and then get busy with a clean, dry lint free cloth like a cotton cloth and buff to a high shine.

For the first few years, this waxing process should be repeated every 3 months (more during winter) and then every 6 months to get the patina that you want.

Cleaning the oak.

If you do get a stain or watermark on a piece of oak, you can simply sand it away with a fine piece of sandpaper or fine steel wool, going with the grain, and then re-wax it.

Cleaning should be done thoroughly every 3 months. Many chemical cleaners will strip wood so it’s important to use something that doesn’t strip it like a natural oil based cleaner like Murphy’s oil soap.

Once you’ve cleaned it you need to condition it every 6 months with something like linseed oil which soaks into the wood and conditions it, enhancing the grain. You can even use lemon oil for this which makes your room smell beautiful. For best results, rotate the two conditioners.

If you have an oak wardrobe or a set of oak drawers, you can use a high quality bee’s wax and polish them to your preferred patina as shown above. Personally, I’d stain the top of a set of oak drawers. Repeat the waxing every 6 months.

If you are lucky enough to have oak garden furniture, you can use an oil based stain to make it waterproof. Be careful not to use linseed oil to condition it however as it might not dry properly and can result in mildew. Instead, use lemon oil.

And then sit back, relax and enjoy your beautiful furniture.

The ‘08 Boston Red Sox Pitching Rotation

In Bean Town, even coming off a World Series triumph with another awesome pitching rotation (the second World Series victory in four years after their excruciating drought) there will always be anxiety about what lies ahead in 2008.

Are the Red Sox the favorite again for the new year; and equally - if not more - important, did the Red Sox do more in the off season than the New York Yankees did to maintain their advantage in the constant arms-race? Truth be told, neither of those teams succeeded in landing the most coveted of those arms, pitcher Johan Santana. But in the broader spectrum, both did prevent each other from getting him by raising the stakes too high.

Even without Johan Santana, the Red Sox present a very formidable pitching rotation entering the 2008 campaign. At the top of the heap is Josh Beckett, coming off a stellar regular and postseason effort in 2007. While he will likely miss the opener, he should be good to go for the rest of the season. His initial move to the American League provided some doubts about whether he could hang with the long ball hitters of the power league, but last year squashed any lingering uneasiness. Josh Beckett is an ace that any team would love to have.

Red Sox Pitching Veteran The Big Schill

Pitcher Curt Schilling will miss a significant chunk of the season; he has already been placed on the 60 day DL. There is no specific timetable for his return to the Red Sox pitching rotation; however, it is likely that he will be out at least through the All-Star break. The question for him will be if, at 41 years old, he can rehab successfully enough to perform at his potential after his return. If there is one thing everybody knows about Curt Schilling though, it is to never count him out.

With Curt Schilling out of the Red Sox pitching rotation for the time being, Daisuke Matsuzaka should be the clear number 2 starter. His first year pitching for the Red Sox showed that a lot of the hype was called for, there is certainly some great potential to Dice-k’s game. However there were also inconsistencies that will need to be improved upon.

It should be expected that his sophomore run with the Red Sox pitching rotation should prove even more successful as he is more familiar with the more grueling MLB schedule and the quality of opposition.

Red Sox lifer Tim Wakefield will be returning to the mound once again offering up his swerving floaters for any that dare to hit - or catch - them. Jon Lester is healthy and will be ready for a full season of work after his battles off the mound with cancer. Clay Buchholz - he of the no-hitter in his first ever start in the majors - is expected to be the 5th man in the Red Sox pitching rotation.

However, in the interest of protecting his young arm, as well as a performance-level that will not always be no-hitter worthy, the 5th spot in the rotation will be up for grabs.

Red Sox Pitching Gets a New Man

The Red Sox acquired former Cy Young winner Bartolo Colon and thus far he has exceeded expectations. His arm seems strong and he is dealing his stuff at a high level. His fastball will no longer top out close to 100, but if it can reliably stay where it has been thus far, in the low to mid 90s, then he could certainly fill a void the Red Sox will have in the pitching rotation with injuries to Schilling and a host of young arms filling out the staff in Lester and Buchholz.

Depending on who is healthy, pitching well and ready to go, the Red Sox could deploy a six man rotation at times during the season or have Colon ready for long relief or the occasional start as needed.

However that last spot in the Red Sox pitching rotation fills out, the defending World Series champs are presenting a strong front in their quest to repeat. Of course, the Red Sox will also be aided by having some great fielders behind them, such as standout Jacoby Ellsbury covering every inch of centerfield (and helping out with Manny Ramirez’s leftfield, no doubt). The Red Sox pitching rotation are saying No Johan, no problem, and with their bevy of great arms you can see why.

So when healthy, you can expect the Red Sox pitching rotation to be Josh Beckett, Curt Schilling, Daisuke Matsuzaka, Tim Wakefield and Jon Lester, with Clay Buchholz and Bartolo Colon in the mix as well.
