Car Hit Caused Schnauzer’s Arthritis Pain
My sweet Schnauzer was hit by a car several years ago. Luckily, she survived but broke her hip badly. She was able to make it through the healing process fairly well, although she never seemed to get back to her full use. In comparison to her quality of lifestyle before the accident, it is apparent that it has drastically changed through her slow moves. It is difficult for her to climb up and down the two steps from the patio doors to the backyard and she seldom runs and plays. Pet Chiropractic
Although her injuries have already healed, it has been six years that she seems to be very sensitive if I touch her leg for any reason. I had once been told that this was a sign that the pet is in pain, so, as you can imagine, I was very concerned about her.
To Find out what was wrong with Cherish, made a trip to the Animal Fitness Center. Dr. Ava Frick informed us that Cherish had been enduring pain from arthritis. I never imegined that my dog would be suffering from arthritis. Somehow, I thought it was something that only humans had to deal with.
Arthritis is actually an inflammation of a joint, and often painful as how Dr. Frick explained it. Arthritis leads to the wear and tear to joins through the natural aging process. She said that the car hit so many years ago likely worsen the arthritis. And it will almost certainly be worse when there has been an injury.
She said that an injury will cause the joint to have irregular surfaces or cause problems on how two bones meet within in a joint oftentimes. I cannot imagine this caused more wear and tear. The bone-on-bone contact can cause additional pain without the smooth, flexible cartilage being present.
NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are sometimes helpful for pets with arthritis and cortisone could also be used to reduce pain and inflammation, Dr. Frick explained.
Including supplements that contain glucosamine, chondroitin sufate, or MSM are also known to help out in treating arthritis like certain dietary supplements. It is often difficult to find access to a veterinarian with expertise in these areas, though. If you live near Union, Missouri, I recommend making an appointment with Dr.Frick at Animal Fitness Center. She has worked wonders with drastically reducing Cherish’s arthritis pain and symptoms, giving my dog a much happier life. Pet Joint Pain
