Discover If Your Type Of Acne Will Leave A Scar

Sometimes, the acne that you have may sometimes be just a pimple that contains a bit of trapped pus consisting of sebum, dead skin cells and white blood cells. But, it can be a lot more severe. By knowing what type you have is the secret to finding a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.

One of the first signs you will notice, is a bump that has come through the surface of the skin. That bump is classified as different types, that change as the acne becomes worse. A pustule, is filled with pus, contains a mixture of bacteria, white blood cells and dead skin cells. The next type is more severe than a pustule. You will be able to notice plenty of papules or pustules which will be red and inflamed. It can get even worse, like this description points out. Now, the bumps have migrated into a more severe kind which is a nodule or cyst. Also, other parts of the body can be covered since this type spreads so quickly, not just the face.

Acne congoblata, is even more severe than the ones we have mentioned. This type is accompanied by acne that is deeper into the skin, with lots of inflammation, and deep sores. This results in scars and other types of serious skin damage.

The following can happen as acne gets progressively worse. Inflamed nodules will form around comedones-a general term for blackheads, whiteheads, and milia. As the nodules begin to grown, they will eject pus. Along with the appearance being affected, there can be pain along with it. Because, of the extensive damage that has taken place, Keliod-type scars may be left as a result.

Another type that can form is known as acne fulminans. There is usually ulcerative acne, which can lead to recurrent acne. And, a fever along with aching joints can accompany it as well. You may have to get non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug treatments. These drugs will only help tolerate the symptoms, not cure the problem.

Finally, the last form that I will mention is called nodulocystic acne. Red bumps (cysts) develop and the bumps can become close enough together to even form a more irritated area. This can also small tunnels to be made under the skin in which the infection spreads rampantly. Accutane and a treatment of antibiotics should be sufficient when the problem is this severe.

Its always good practice to visit a doctor along with a dermatologist to determine what treatment will meet your needs.

What You Don’t Know About Acne

At some stage in life, usually during the teenage years, pores begin to get clogged and bacteria form inside them, which results in acne. The red bumps associated with it are painful, and the white pimples are unsightly.

Our skin is a vital part of our body, because it keeps out bacteria and other germs that could make us sick. But sometimes bacteria grow within the pores of our skin, and mixes with the sebum which comes from the sebaceous glands. We need this oil so our skin will remain soft and not dry.

Normally, our skin cells will grow and die and are eliminated through bathing. At the same time, oil or sebum dribbles out the side and is distributed around the area, and our hair grows through the surface. Unfortunately, sometimes the process doesn’t work properly, and the bacteria get trapped inside the pore, the result is acne.

Sometimes, that acne will appear as a white bump with redness that contains dead skin, white blood cells, and bacteria. The pimple can also contain “pus”, and will form a pustule. Postule is derived from the word ‘pus.’ A postule develops when the follicle wall in the cell breaks, and the white cells rush in as a healing process.

There are also another type called blackheads, they get there name from their color. But here’s an important point to remember, the black isn’t actually from dirt. It’s a combination of dead skin cells and sebum that have oxidized. The oxygen in the air causes a chemical reaction that turns them black.

The various forms that we have mentioned are referred to by the medical term called ‘comedones.’ The only difference that determines what type of comedone is whether the formation is open or closed.

If your acne progresses, then it will take on one of these three forms. Here are the characteristics of each form. If the hair follicle breaks close to the surface, then you have a papule. They’re small, and don’t contain any pus. With a nodule, the break is at the base of the hair follicle, and there is a hard lump under the skin. A cyst is larger than a nodule, is soft, but painful.

Although your not looking for a Biology lesson, hopefully you know a little bit more about acne. You now have an advantage, because you are knowledgeable. That knowledge will enable you to buy things that you really are sure of, and not products or procedures that don’t work.

Should You Consider Advance Acne Treatment?

Sometimes treatments just don’t work. You may need to use some of the advanced treatments that are available. Hopefully the information in this article will be helpful if you decide to make an appointment with a specialist. Here are three different types available, along with the results from some of our patients.

This was an earlier treatment available, until it was discovered in studies that it can cause cancer. It was an effective killer of the bacteria that causes acne. The type I’m referring to is UV light. Usage of this type decreased dramatically after it was discovered that it can cause cancer. There are other types available where you don’t have to take that risk. Let’s proceed to those next.

This is one of the types I mentioned earlier that don’t cause cancer. It performs two tasks very well. One, it kills the bacteria that causes acne. Two, it slows down the sebum production which will certainly eliminate any kind of acne problem. It is named for the actual light color, which is blue. Therefore, they call it ‘blue light’. It has a small side effect; it can cause moderately dry skin.

Blue light has often been more effective on more serious kinds of acne (nodules, cysts). In several studies improvements ranged from complete remission to about 40% decrease in the number of lesions. While, two thirds improvements ranged from 59% to 67% reduction of inflammatory acne lesions.

I also need to mention Pulsed & LHE. You may already know that sebum production by the sebaceous glands has a direct effect on a person’s chance of getting acne. Well, this type works by actually shrinking the sebaceous glands, which will decrease the amount of oil that will be produced.

It has the earned the approval of the FDA for treating mild-moderately severe acne. This enables them to treat acne at both ends of the spectrum. It can decrease inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne by treating two times per week in just a month. Compared to drug treatments which usually take two or three months or longer? Also, the light therapy is used in conjunction with prescription medication.

The laser is another type. It’s so efficient because the beams of light come together at one point. All other light sources will scatter. This concentrates all that power into a precise point. This makes it more exact. That’s why lasers are an excellent choice for acne procedures.

The results from a study that was conducted demonstrated that with one treatment, acne lesions were reduced by nearly 40%. The following treatment, they were lessened by 60%, and it was nearly 80% on the third visit. The procedure may cause some minor pain; a topical anesthetic can be applied to ensure that you’re comfortable as possible.

Acne Myths Report

There are several common beliefs about the causes and course of acne where scientific studies just don’t agree with the real world. Fortunately, you don’t have to understand all the myths in depth to separate the real truth. For example, it has not been proven that eating chocolate or greasy cheeseburgers will cause you to develop acne.

Most of the time, people are inclined to eat right and carryout healthy habits with their face as well. The habits that are learned translate over to their skin as well. Surprisingly, cleanliness still doesn’t have a large contribution to acne development.

What increases your chance the most are when pores become blocked and bacteria form inside them, the result is a common skin disease called acne. White blood cells rush to the area to combat the bacteria. While oil or sebum oozes out the side and is distributed around the area, our hair continues to grow through the surface. Our skin cells will grow and die and are rubbed off through washing.

But when this process is interrupted the pores close trapping the bacteria inside. In addition, you have trapped dead skin cells that contribute to the problem. As a result, you can develop inflammation in the area and the creation of pus, which is one type of acne.

But acne is strongly influenced by excess sebum production (a natural skin oil), triggered primarily by hormones. Good hygiene is a good idea for many reasons. But it helps more in treating acne that has already occurred by providing a good surface for medications to do their work most effectively.

It has been said that surely stress would play a role in the onset of acne. But it has not been proven by major studies. Stress may have a small effect on acne that has already formed, but it ranks low on the list as a possible cause. But, keep posted because I think this thinking may change in the future. The reason is that stress is an all out massive attack on your body. This is my opinion.

However, people who have had other health conditions have usually experienced stress. You can’t avoid it because it’s just part of life. Fortunately, the extent things effect you are mostly in your control. We would probably be bored without some stress in our life. That won’t ever be a problem.

One final point to mention, don’t ever think that more acne medication will work better. It’s harmful to alter the prescribed amount that the doctor recommended, and it’s wasting medication. Follow, the dosage information on your prescription. Make a follow up visit to your doctor, if you don’t improve in two weeks.

Why Don’t I Have Clear Skin?

One of the best weapons in the fight against acne is knowledge; if you know what causes acne, it’s easier to formulate a good plan of attack. It makes sense that acne tends to be associated with teens. Over 85% of them start to have to deal with the problem, which is a nuisance. During this stage of life hormone levels increase along with androgen in both males and females.

The largest amount of acne occurs on the back, upper chest, and unfortunately on the face. This occurs because the sebaceous glands are now actively manufacturing sebum. We can’t eliminate the sebum, because the body needs it for the hair follicles. Washing the excess oil off using soap and water, or alcohol eliminates the problem. Except the acne could form blackheads.

The problem worsens when the pores close and become clogged from excess sebum. This can cause whiteheads to form, and they can burst from increasing pressure. This transfers the bacteria to the outside of your face, for instance and it gets distributed. Next step, the bacteria can create pus and inflammation, which causes acne.

So, have you ever wondered how much stress can affect your acne? Let’s take a look, because stress seems to be a normal part of life, you can’t get rid of it. Fortunately, stress by itself doesn’t produce acne, but it can make it worse because the immune system gets pulled down, and then your body is not able to fight the bacteria that are causing your acne. But, it isn’t a major factor.

Another question that I have been asked is how much influence do illegal drugs have on acne. First, if you are taking illegal drugs, you just need to stop! If you don’t you are going to have worse problems than acne. But, let’s see what the dermatologist had to say. I was told that anabolic steroids can be a major contributor toward acne, as well as barbiturates and tetracycline.

People have often inquired about the role genetics plays in the acne field. The results I found from researching say there hasn’t been any infallible studies to confirm it. In contrast, documentation shows that acne can be passed along in the family tree. But, that’s partly due to family living.

This is a question I get all the time, and everyone is always amazed at my answer. It’s actually a more minor cause. Certain foods that are greasy, don’t translate into increased oil in the skin. And, any food that tends to increase the production of sebum (oil) or certain hormones will have an effect. But, there wasn’t any study that suggests that the common culprits-soft drinks, chocolate and greasy cheeseburgers-play a large role in producing acne.

If you can remember that hormones cause the sebaceous glands to secrete too much sebum (oil). The hormones are more active because you are going through puberty. All the acne products work on the principle of controlling the sebum and keeping the pores unclogged. It’s important to control the production of the sebum (oil), because if the sebum gets mixed with bacteria deep in the pores of the skin that is clogged, the result is acne.

Mineral Makeup: Say Goodbye To Harsh Cosmetics

Mineral makeup consists of beauty products like foundations, eye liners, foundations, mascara, lipsticks and other related cosmetics that are manufactured using pure minerals of the Earth which are grounded finely and contains little or no harsh chemicals or additives that can hurt or upset the skin. These mineral cosmetics contain no talc or dyes, and do not include in their ingredients fragrance, mica, oils, silicones, fillers and wax. And it is for this reason that these cosmetic products are getting more exposure and popularity among women and the makeup industry; most probably because of the recent studies showing how they can improve skin health and how they do not contain harsh substances for the skin.

The more well-known and reputable companies in the makeup industry are Bare Essentials and Bare Minerals, which are with the company Bare Escentuals. They have a considerable share in advertisement airtime on many television and home shopping stations. The cosmetic products they offer in the market contain no binders or fillers and appear incredibly weightless. Makeup products coming from these reputable companies offer quality products and stay loyal to their concept of giving women safe and natural cosmetics.

Mineral cosmetics are appropriate for a diverse range of skin types; whether you have dry or oily skin, flaky or hypersensitive skin, it doesn’t matter. This is because these cosmetics are specifically manufactured with the use of only pure minerals coming from the Earth like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. The processing of these minerals includes sterilization and is grinded until it turns into powder form while heat-absorbing iron is also added.

The components of mineral makeup lend this beauty product superb protection from the sun’s harmful UV rays, and are capable of soothing and calming the skin, as well as preventing it from inflammation or irritation. It also keeps the natural moisture in your skin as it protects it from harmful contaminants and impurities.

These cosmetic items can prove to have exceptional capabilities for hiding the dark and red spots on a person’s skin, which also cloaks acne or pimple marks and wounded capillaries. They can also hide discolorations and unattractive marks in the skin, as well as red spots; all while providing balance on skin tone. If you are the type of person that has oily skin, this would be a perfect makeup to use because its mineral content has the ability to collect the oil in your skin. And since these cosmetics are free from talc and oil, you can be certain that your skin pores won’t be clogged.

Most skin experts accepts the knowledge that mineral makeup is generally safe for those recuperating from chemical peels, plastic surgery and other major skin treatments without the risk of getting an allergic reaction or inflammation. Although there is a fine line that separates the makeup as a healthy skin product and a beauty product safe enough even in sleep. This is why no makeup is a guaranteed “safe” choice.

Dermatologists specifically advice the application of mineral cosmetics for people experiencing unusual cases of pimples, acne, eczema and other skin disorders because the mineral constituents of the makeup can help in the nourishment and restoration of the skin. These beauty aids can also do wonders for mature individuals by cloaking fine lines and wrinkles in the skin since it can easily reflect light.

One must also take note that not all mineral cosmetics are manufactured identically; they can be classified into two types. The first type is the ones which are not having any artificial colors, talc or other harsh substances capable of irritating the skin just as discussed previously.

The second type includes makeup that, although labeled as mineral makeup, still has traces and some amounts of talc, fillers, oil and other harsh ingredients that it is not supposed to have. So one must be careful when buying and using mineral cosmetics; read labels to make sure that you are getting makeup that is suitable to your skin type and do some research for a better understanding on how to properly use them.

Review: Over The Counter Acne Treatment

Nonprescription medications are sufficient for most acne. If you can begin getting in the habit of overall skin care, over the counter solutions do an impressive job of clearing up acne as soon as possible.

Let me point out the differences in some of the non prescription solutions.

Resorcinol is another widely used OTC medication and is adequate in many cases, especially when combined with other compounds such as sulfur. It functions by crushing hardened skin, leading to more adequate removal from the follicle and the area outside. That also produces less odds of clogging, a major factor in acne formation.

Use separate from astringents such as alcohol.

One of the most widely used - and most effective - treatments possible for mild acne, benzyl peroxide is used daily by millions. It works by helping combat the bacteria that is partly responsible for acne in the first place: Propionibacterium acnes. It also helps to take away dead skin cells from the area. If those don’t go up to the surface where they can be wiped away or washed off, they can grow, causing a greater chance of getting acne.

Benzyl Peroxide has been in use for decades so the advantages and disadvantages are well known. One possible side effect is too much drying of the skin. It can also bleach fabric, and so should be used with care when treating acne while doing a wardrobe change.

The risk of side effects can be minimized by using the proper amount. If a 2.5% concentration is working, don’t assume that 10% is better, or will work faster. Higher dosage only increases the odds of side effects without any compensating value.

Routinely sold in the form of pads, salicylic acid helps break down blackheads and whiteheads. It slows down the process of shedding dead skin cells inside the follicle, that will help with lowering build up. It also helps to remove shedding dead skin cells, which helps prevent bacteria build up in the sebum (skin oil) inside the pore. Also, it will be safe and effective for you to use salicylic acid, because it is the active ingredient in aspirin.

There you have it. Now you know a little bit more about getting clear skin and keeping it that way. Make sure that you don’t combine any of these treatments, unless your dermatologist has asked you to. Be sure and read the directions on what ever product you select and follow them carefully. If you find that after a couple of weeks your acne persists, or even gets worse, return to your dermatologist to let them know what’s going on. They may recommend a stronger treatment, like a prescription medication.

Vanishing Wrinkles

As generations pass, it seems the desire for eternal beauty only grows stronger. Or maybe it’s the desire for eternal youth. Is there really a difference? Now days, society claims the two go hand in hand. As if you can’t have the beauty part without the youth part. Who ever officially announced this concept anyway? Has the current media warped our delicate minds? Regardless of its origins, youthful beauty is without a doubt all the rage in more contemporary times. Our society has deemed wrinkles taboo. This may be the reason so many individuals these days are struggling to remove wrinkles and keep them from rearing their ugly head. What wrinkle solutions sit on your bathroom counter?

Are you attempting to remove wrinkles and stay young forever? Well, I must say good luck to you. In reality, we all inevitably age. There’s simply no way around the issue. However, now there are ways to remove wrinkles and effectively treat and prevent the signs of aging. The key is tackling this issue in the right fashion.

Probably the most successful way to look younger is to have plastic surgery. Surgeons can tighten the skin to make it look younger and more elastic. This is of course risky because of the use of general anaesthetic, as well as the possibility of infection or other complications. If you must have younger skin though, this will work every time.

If you can’t afford surgery, or just don’t want to do it then you might want to think about Botox, which involves injecting a solution under parts of the skin which will then paralyze the nerves and muscles around the injection site. This relaxes the muscles around the face which makes wrinkles less noticeable. Botox needs to be repeated every few months to remain effective, so you may want to factor that into your decision.

Other ways to remove wrinkles are a tad less intimidating. Have you taken a browse through the latest anti-wrinkle creams and treatments? In all honesty, there are more than a few to go around. Jump online and you will be flooded with creams and serums that help remove wrinkles. If you don’t already know, one of the most effective routes concerning wrinkles involves starting young. Begin taking care of yourself at an early age. This way you will prevent those fine lines from appearing immediately after you hit 30. Because let’s face it, you don’t need to remove wrinkles if you don’t have them in the first place.

How To Accentuate Your Eyes

The eyes are the windows of the soul. That is what is commonly said about the eyes. The beauty you got and everything will be seen in your eyes. In fact the very first things we usually see are the eyes. They have so much effect on people. Your eyes can tell much about you, your personality and your beauty. You can accentuate your eyes and make it as beautiful as ever.

All you need is to follow the steps and you are going to have eyes that will really stand out.

Step # 1: Prepare the eye area.

Always check the area around your eyes. You have to see if you’ve got puffy, dry and dark circle areas. Puffiness can be treated with cold packs perhaps around eight to ten minutes will do. Moisturizers and eye creams will do the trick of putting away the dryness. You can brighten your eyes by applying concealer under and around your eyes. This should be enough to prepare your eyes.

Step #2: Beautify your brows

If you want to make a striking brow, do not fall for fashion trend traps. However there are really a lot of ways to make your eyebrows strikingly different. You can shape your brows according to the natural growth pattern that you already have. Do not go for sharp angular brows. Instead go for that gentle arch which will make you look gentle and caring. Use an eyebrow brush to smoothen the hair along with dark brown or black powder. Do not use the eyebrow pencils because they never look so natural at all. However you can use them at night for that dramatic look you want.

Step #3: Learn your appropriate colors

Obviously, you don’t use all eye shadow colors at the same time. You have to be careful when you choose the appropriate color for you. Remember to only use two colors within the same family of color. You can be allowed to use three during the night but more often than not, two colors will do just fine. Darker colors should be applied first on the lid then will be blended upwards. Light colors are best for the subtle look on the brow bone and outer eye areas. In addition, an extra color can be used at night to be the natural shimmering look.

Step #4: Lash curling

Curling the lashes is probably the most striking effect added to the eyes. No matter if you have straight lashed, nothing can beat curling the lashes as an addition to an already beautiful look on your eyes. Make the lash curling as natural as possible. To do this, you need to use a curler and squeeze tight as you move along your lashes from the base up to the tips. A good curler to use is those which will have a broader and wider base. Use the ones that will less likely pull your lashes off which will make the lashes thinner than it normally should.

Step #5: Proper use of mascara

Mascara is great products which can add that striking shimmering look in your eyes but only when it is used properly. If not used properly they will give you that awful garish look. Mascara can clearly define your eyes and adds drama to how it looks. You have to apply the product to the entire length of the lashes which would mean not only at the base and not only at the tips. This is achieved by applying it from the base towards the tips. Spread the color as much as possible by doing the brushing in a zigzag manner. That even look will surely make your eyes stand out.

Return Of Your “Pearly Whites” With Teeth Whitening Systems!

The earliest teeth whitening system constituted the usage of large dental reservoirs. These had to be loaded with some semi-liquid substance, and kept on the whole night. The sleeper had to be careful not to get the stuff on the gums, which was a rather difficult task considering that the gums surrounded the entire set of teeth, plus the person salivated constantly! The results were not healthy–the gums, along with the teeth, ended up looking bleached! The teeth did become white, but the gums became very sensitive and weak.

Then we were offered a new and improved teeth whitening systemor, actually, product: the gel with the cap and brush connected (which looked just like the White-out wand, really. One painted the gel on each tooth, in the direction of the teeth-up and down, not across-and then stayed careful with mouth fixed in a simian grin so that lips and saliva did not interfere with the bleaching action.

A better system was then developed. This consisted of stiff strips to be attached to each tooth. True, the application was easier and less time-consuming! Unfortunately, the strips turned out to be too stiff to remain against the teeth for long. So as soon as they were removed, there were some white teeth, some grey, some stained and some yellowed! The untouched areas presented all sorts of hues!

People are now speaking the praises of another kind of teeth whitening system-the Ionic White Teeth-whitening System. Evidently, the user paints a whitening gel on, then smiles in front of a blue light for five minutes. The system also includes a process of “swishing” the gel-three different times in the one session-and is from what I understand a bit of a challenge, as the swishing action is not facilitated by the gummy, thick whitening substance, whereas a wash would be easier to swish.

Coming to teeth whitening toothpastes, they are too many to count on one’s fingers. Among them, Smoker’s toothpaste is worth trying. The best one is the Rembrandt toothpaste, though one has to shell out eight dollars for each toothpaste. Even better than the toothpaste is the Rembrandt Teeth Whitening System. A system of trays spread with the whitening gel is used here. The trays are pushed in and taken out of the mouth in five incremental sessions, within a period of about two hours. If the person finishes the treatment before two hours, he/she is free to go. These trays have tabs and are pliable. Additionally, the thick gum stays in place and does not drip or stain the surrounding gums. Each time a tray is removed, the mouth can be aired and the teeth rinsed to get rid off the gel on them.

If you can afford it, the dentist offers the teeth whitening system, which he/she does in a matter of high-tech secondsand which is where we all got the home-remedy ideas to begin with. But insurance doesn’t typically cover such a cosmetic luxury, and the teeth whitening systems you can buy OTC are very affordableespecially when you only have to use them every three to six months.
