Locating A United States Passport Office Is An Easy Task
One thing that everyone should know about getting a passport for the first time is that the first time applicant must go to the passport office in person in order to apply. Locating a USA passport office is as easy as getting online and doing a simple search. In many cases, the local office will be located at the neighborhood post office.
There is simply no way to get around having to apply person for the first time passport applicant. Every form has to be filled out, every i dotted and every t crossed. In addition to all of the forms, there is very specific documentation that must be brought in for the application to be accepted.
This is the only way the government has to track people that are coming in and out of the country so they make sure that it is very thorough. With so many rules in place about national security and international travel, it is no wonder that the government wants anyone that is getting their first passport to go through the process in person. Even though the process can take up some time, the government does try and make it as simple as possible.
Often times, passport application offices are inside local government offices. A passport application center may be located in the local post office, public library, clerks of court office, or any other local, state, or federal office building. Most people do not have a hard time finding an office that is convenient for them.
Because there is the need to get a passport photo, it is important to check to see if the local office is capable of providing this service. This is not part of the fee structure and there will be a separate charge. While many of the passport offices do have this capability, some of the smaller ones do not and the photos will have to be obtained before ever heading over there to turn everything in.
There are times, however, when a person will still have to head to a regional office in order to get their passport. This is generally an exception and will only need to be done when the passport is needed in a shorter time frame than the standard services. Passport renewals do not need to be filed in person, so anyone renewing a passport does not need to go to a passport center. However, replacing a lost passport is treated like applying for a new passport, so anyone that has lost a passport will need to find a passport center. Passport centers are usually least crowded mid-morning.
Why it would be nice if the electronic age could be useful in avoiding the American passport office, there is simply no way around it for a first time new passport applicant. These laws are in place for good reason and it all comes down to national security. If they made the process too easy, anyone could get a passport and just about anyone would be able to get into the country.
