Montana’s Amazing Big Sky Ski Resort

Having all that Big Sky, Montana is offering snow skiers, it’s astounding that so very few know about its presence! Acknowledged for it’s broad open runs and small lift lines, Big Sky Ski Resort has one of the biggest lift served vertical drops in the United states. More than fifty three hundred acres of skiing slopes and trails await skiers, with over thirty three ft of snowfall each year.

Big Sky has three mountains to delight skiers and snowboarders. Lone Mountain is the resort’s signature peak, rising to 11,166 feet. For the cross-country skier , Lone Mountain Ranch grooms 75+ kilometers of trails that wind their way through the woods, meadows and golf course of Big Sky . Fly fishing , hiking, whitewater rafting , backpacking, mountain biking, horseback riding and golfing are some of Big Sky’s most popular warm weather activities.

The two resorts share the same mountain – Lone Peak, which is nearly an hour from Bozeman. At one time, the resorts shared several trails and a lift.

For those who dare, the Lone Peak Tram takes the bold to the apex, with 3,600 acres, 4,350 jaw-dropping vertical feet and expert terrain below. Combined, the two trail networks offer nearly 5,300 acres of skiable terrain and the second-biggest vertical descent in the US, at 4,350′. Between them, the two resorts operate 23 lifts. Coupled with easy access to the slopes and an average annual snowfall of 400 inches, terrain parks and halfpipes, you can see why Big Sky has become one of the top ski resorts in the country and rivals Winter Park ski vacations for the perfect getaway.
